Job Description

Our client, a pioneering UK-based SME specialising in advanced maritime technology, is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive strategic growth within the defence sector. This role will play a pivotal part in supporting regional leads, engaging with stakeholders such as the US Department of Defence, and delivering innovative solutions to complex challenges. Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Support the development and execution of regional business plans aligned with company objectives.
    Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including military officials, defence contractors, and government agencies.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management, tracking progress and milestones. Maintain accurate records of client interactions and opportunities.
  • Industry Engagement: Represent the organisation at trade shows, conferences, and industry forums, showcasing expertise and thought leadership.
  • Revenue Growth: Support regional strategies to drive revenue and expand market presence in the defence industry.
    Internal Collaboration: Work with internal teams across engineering, finance, and product development to align objectives and ensure seamless execution.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of the defence market, including procurement processes and industry standards.
  • Proven ability to support and execute strategic business plans.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical information.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in record-keeping and producing detailed reports to highlight achievements.
    Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within small, dynamic teams.

 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in the maritime or advanced engineering sectors.
  • Familiarity with defence-specific regulations and security requirements.
  • Experience engaging with international defence markets.
