Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Inspector to maintain and enhance inspection standards for safety-critical and other key products for one of our key clients in the Aerospace and Defence industry. This role is vital for ensuring product excellence within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will work closely with production teams, promoting best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspection & Quality Assurance: Conduct first-level inspections of products, ensuring adherence to established specifications and standards.
- Process Monitoring: Oversee manufacturing cycles, ensuring correct assembly techniques and testing procedures.
- Goods-In Inspection: Perform visual, dimensional, and gauging checks on received components.
- Product Validation: Ensure all validation tests are properly completed, documented, and comply with relevant standards.
- Radiographic Examinations: Conduct and assess radiographic inspections as required.
- Final Product Review: Perform final inspections, verifying compliance with drawings and technical specifications.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate inspection records and assist in creating inspection plans.
- Non-Conformance Management: Support investigations into process malfunctions and prepare related documentation.
- Training & Development: Mentor production staff, fostering knowledge transfer and competency development.
- Auditing & Compliance: Conduct internal audits as assigned and ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Significant experience in manufacturing processes and quality assurance.
- Expertise in mechanical component inspection and electrical/fibre optic testing.
- Proficiency in manual inspection and calibration tools.
- Knowledge of electrical soldering and PCB manufacturing (IPC certification advantageous).
- Health & Safety certification (IOSH or equivalent).
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to mentor and train others effectively.
- High level of diligence, responsibility, and reliability.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience with process improvement and lean manufacturing techniques.
- Familiarity with business management systems such as Priority.
