Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to join a key client’s team, focusing on delivering engineering and technical solutions within the nuclear sector. This role is pivotal in supporting the client’s nuclear fleet operations across the UK, directly contributing to critical projects in the energy and defence industries. The successful candidate will drive project execution strategies, ensuring all objectives are met in line with the client’s high safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of assigned projects, aligning with the client’s Project Portfolio Manager (PPM) and using a multi-disciplinary team to deliver results safely and on time.
- Develop and implement project execution strategies that meet both company policies and client-specific objectives.
- Manage relationships with cross-functional teams, ensuring all project stages—from planning to commissioning—are delivered to agreed baselines.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide detailed project reporting, manage budgets, and oversee cost control.
- Coordinate business travel between the Sizewell B Power Station and other UK sites as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Degree in engineering or a related field, ideally with Chartership status.
- APMP (or equivalent) qualification in project management.
- Extensive experience in project management within complex, regulated environments (preferably in the nuclear or energy sectors).
- Thorough understanding of engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning processes.
- Familiarity with safety cases, CDM regulations, and health and safety legislation in the energy or defence sectors.
- Proficiency in project management tools and techniques, including Earned Value Management and financial control systems.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with a collaborative, results-oriented approach.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications
- Experience working within the nuclear industry or on nuclear-licensed sites.
- Proven track record managing multi-disciplinary teams on large-scale engineering projects.
- Familiarity with nuclear fleet operations, particularly with EDF Energy.
