I had quite the adventure this week as LUNIQ’s recent escapade took us to DSEI 2023 – An enormous exhibition of all things technology and warfare innovation.
– Ed Le Coyte
A bustling hive of forward-thinking inventors and tech-wielding warriors, all converging under one roof to revolutionize global security. From long-range missile wizardry to AI-powered drones, the exhibits were mind-blowing. It’s hard to put into words the sheer scale of the exhibition and the size of the colossal stands showcasing the latest in giant land, sea and air busting vehicles and weaponry.
As impactful as this spectacle was – and if you could overcome the mammoth distance you need to cover to see absolutely everything – the real gems of advancement and innovation could be found through insightful conversations with fellow tech buffs, delving into discussions about everything from ethical AI to the role of tech in humanitarian endeavours.
I was enlightened to chat with Malcolm from Sirius Insight about maritime situational awareness and dive into the deep waters of sensor technology surrounding our coastline. I pressed on through the miles of walkways bursting with future-tech, to find the team at Evolve Dynamics who discussed their tethered drone, allowing surveillance drones to be airborne for literally days. Another few miles of discovery brings me to AERALIS, where David clued us up on the benefits of the worlds first modular aircraft system, improving efficiency, cost and emissions of defence aviation.
At the heart of DSEI lies the spirit of collaboration. It’s what this industry is all about, the event allowed disruptors from across the globe to come together and discover meaningful connections. Partnerships and alliances were the name of the game, emphasizing that teamwork isn’t just a catchphrase – it’s a survival tactic.
As I reflect on DSEI 2023, it’s clear: innovation and collaboration are the keys to solving the world’s problems, urging us at LUNIQ to break barriers, innovate with gusto, and contribute to a world where tech is both the shield and the sword.
In a nutshell, DSEI 2023 was an exciting journey through the bleeding edges of defence tech. Despite needing a new pair of shoes, I return to LUNIQ fired up, with a renewed purpose, driven by the collective zeal to make this world a safer, better place.
